Job Description:
The Thermal Analyst will work with the thermal-hydraulics group to conduct mechanical design and analysis of spent nuclear fuel storage and transportation casks, high-density spent nuclear fuel storage racks, Small Modular Reactor (SMR) thermal-hydraulic evaluations, and heat exchangers.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
The Thermal Analyst will work with the thermal-hydraulics group to conduct mechanical design and analysis of spent nuclear fuel storage and transportation casks, high-density spent nuclear fuel storage racks, Small Modular Reactor (SMR) thermal-hydraulic evaluations, and heat exchangers.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Conduct thermal performance evaluations of spent fuel casks and spent fuel pools;
- Conduct design and performance evaluations of heat exchangers;
- Prepare and review licensing reports, calculation reports, and computer code validations;
- Build 3D thermal models of various dry storage systems; and
- Participate in meetings with clients and government regulators.
- ~10% domestic travel required.
- Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field;
- 1 year of experience working in any engineering/engineer trainee position that utilized computer-aided engineering (CAE) simulations.
- Experience with/demonstrated knowledge of the following:
- Fluid mechanics and heat transfer;
- Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and turbulent flow analysis;
- Thermal systems design analysis.

- Knowledge may be gained through course work/research projects.
